Greenwood 3.1 script description:

Publisher review:
Greenwood is a minimalistic web content manager. Greenwood is a minimalistic web content manager. In a nutshell, it is an interface between the web client and a recursive directory on the web server's file system.

The files which are used to create each page are plain text files (ending in ".txt") containing a markup derived from Wiki markup.

A "navigator" program is included which renders navigable pages for your visitors, and an "manager" program is under development to allow authorized users to modify the content.

It maintains a data structure representing the directory as a tree, and supports additional information about each page to be added (via a template in the page or by the manager). Upon updates to the file system, or upon request, it "prunes" this directory for changes, and updates the data file accordingly.

It is oriented for home pages, although any users with access to the files can make changes. The documents to be displayed to the user can be written in Wiki markup, HTML or PHP (see Supported Content Types for more). Proficiency with HTML and a basic knowledge of PHP is recommended for customization or to contribute to the project.

It is therefor ideal for web developers who don't want to reinvent such a system, and don't have the need for more powerful system like: MediaWiki, Plone, Drupal, etc. Again, it should only require a web server with PHP!

Advantages:
- Requires no external database (like MySQL)
- The content files are stored in the installation directory (allowing manual editing)
- The content files can be written in a markup similar to Wiki markup, allowing easy text editing.
Greenwood 3.1 is a PHP script for Content Management scripts design by hawaiianryan. It runs on following operating system: Windows / Linux / Mac OS / BSD / Solaris.

Operating system:
Windows / Linux / Mac OS / BSD / Solaris
